Ingredients

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (170°C fan/Gas Mark 5).
  2. Peel, core, and chop the apples into roughly 2cm chunks. Place them in a medium ovenproof dish.
  3. Sprinkle the 50g of caster sugar and ground cinnamon over the apples. Add the lemon juice and toss gently to combine.
  4. In a separate mixing bowl, add the plain flour and cubed cold butter. Rub the butter into the flour using your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
  5. Stir in the 75g of caster sugar and the rolled oats into the breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples in the dish.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is tender and bubbling.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with custard, cream, or ice cream.
