Ingredients
- Baguette or ciabatta loaf 1 x 250g
- Unsalted butter, softened 100g
- Garlic cloves, very finely chopped or crushed 3
- Fresh parsley, finely chopped 2 tbsp
- Salt pinch
- Black pepper pinch
- Parmesan-style cheese, grated (optional) 50g
Method
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C fan/Gas Mark 6).
- Slice the bread horizontally, but not all the way through, so it stays connected at the bottom.
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, finely chopped garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Carefully spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut surfaces of the bread.
- If using, sprinkle the grated Parmesan-style cheese over the butter mixture.
- Wrap the bread tightly in aluminium foil.
- Place on a baking tray and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Unwrap the foil and bake for a further 3-5 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
